Faith, feith, fei,fai "faithfulness to a trust or promise; loyalty to a person, honesty, truthfulness, "comes from Anglo-french and from Old french feid, foi which means "faith, belief, trust, confidence; pledge " from Latin fides which means trust, faith, confidence, reliance, credence, and belief, from the root of fidere which means to trust. These are the origin of the word faith. The singing of Gozos in "Sñr. Sto. Niño shows the devotion of Cebuanos to the infant Jesus. It becomes more meaningful when the devotees raise and sway their hands like the current of water smoothly and gracefully moving from right to left as they sing the chorus of "Gozos." The kneeling in the center aisle of Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño church, as the devotee holds the image of the infant Jesus in his chest while praying verbally in a whispering tone manifests his state of being pious to the Holy Infant Jesus; Sñr. Sto. Niño. The devotee's piety is quiet but profound. The spread of Christianity which is founded by Jesus Christ and brought by the Spaniards to the Philippines specifically in the Queen City of the South; Cebu. Since then, Christianity has become the religion of millions of Filipinos especially Cebuanos.
Human as we are, we are weak that's why we need strength. We need something to hold on to. We need someone to lean on. We need someone to be with us and be there for us. We are lonely beings that's why we need someone. We are born to reach out because we're not an island. We go through struggles and experience the sorrow of the land. Amidst the turbulence brought by the chaotic world where most people show indifference instead of love, our confidence in our Supreme being is getting stronger. All the despair we have encounter will bring us closer to Jesus Christ as what He wanted to happen. Our faith in Him will grow day by day maybe every morning as we wake up or every night as we see stars. Faith is the only weapon we have to conquer our enemies; the wicked. It is only in faith where the impossible becomes possible. It is only in faith where the sinner will become a renewed disciple of Jesus Christ as he follows His steps. It is only in faith where the disciples of Christ are born and the renewed disciple of Jesus Christ is not judgmental: when you judge you don't love said Mother Teresa of Calcutta. It is only Christ who can judge us by looking at our hearts, for our hearts reveal who we truly are. We need to take care of our hearts because Jesus Christ will rest in here if we will let Him. We just need to let Him, for us to become His disciples. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we surely have great confidence in Him and let His grace work on us so that we can be more like Him. The more we slowly transformed into a renewed disciple of Christ we will undergo first the violence of the world where it will only keep us broken but there's this tiny shimmering thread where we can hold on to in the darkness that's the trust. Our trust in the procedures of Christ as He let His masterpiece shine on us. Even if how many times our enemies will bring us down He will always carry us as we carry our burdens. It is only in our faith we continue to live even in the myriad of hardships. It is only in our faith we learn to live that God is love, indeed He is. It is only in our faith where we gain strength. It is only in our trust in God where we don't worry anymore. It is only in our faith where we stumble and fall but we learn to stand up still. Faith is the only way to reach the very presence of God for He is Omnipresent. It is only in faith where you experienced pain but you don't remorse. Faith is the only way to change pain into healing.
It is only in faith where we can witness miracles. For miracles are real only when you believe. It is only in faith where we feel we are loved by a never-failing and never changing love; love of God. Hence, it is only in faith where we find hope when we feel hopeless. It is only in faith that gives light to every doomed heart and life of an individual. It is only in faith where we can also be the light to others, especially when they live in their darkest hours. It is only in faith where we can testify to the love of God. It is only in faith where the fearful become courageous. It is only in faith where the lonely find company. It is only in faith where the unloved by the world is loved by the Mighty One. It is only in faith where we experience inner peace amidst all the distractions. It is only in faith we learn to forgive instead of planting a grudge. It is only in faith we learn to live in generosity instead of being rude. It is only in faith we learn to be silent instead of fighting back. It is only in faith where we choose to reach out because if you don't who will. It is only in faith where we believe. It is only in faith when you lose your way to Him, His ray of love will shine on you and He will find you. It is only in faith where your sins are forgiven and your trust in Him you learn not to let go because you know He will not let you go. It is only in the Cebuanos' faith in the Holy Infant Jesus where most of the Augustinian priests are healed and renewed by His grace and mercy. It is because of the faith of the Cebuanos' where the Holy Infant Jesus is so alive in their hearts. It is because of the characteristics of Sñr. Sto. Niño most Cebuanos' are apparent to; His sweetness and innocence. It is because of the Cebuanos faith where they show their genuine smiles amidst all the obstacles they've been through. It is because of Cebuanos' faith in the Holy Infant Jesus our very own Pope Francis adores and is moved by the true essence of their faith. It is because of the Cebuanos faith the International Eucharistic Congress was held here in Cebu last 2015. It is because, in faith, the victims of an unjust world will gain true justice. It is because in faith the truth will unveil. It is because in faith the forgotten will be remembered. It is because in faith the rejected will be welcomed in the real love of God. It is because, in faith, the verbal abuse will be secured in His love. Thus, it is only faith we can be one for we are one body of Christ His church.
Faith is the response to the proclaimed word of God which reveals the truth. Faith is the proof of the true existence of our belief in God. It is not merely a product of the mind for it is a mystery. Faith is the constituent of our whole being it can be synthetic but for a true Christian, it is genuine with sincerity. Faith has come to life when we start to believe, to trust, to truly love, and to hope. Faith is all we need for it is the main ingredient in our tasteless lives. Faith is one of our essential needs for it is the door to eternal happiness and true cheerfulness.
